This CANAP sponsored scholarship is available to all Advance Practice Nursing students who are CANAP members in good standing. Criteria to provide:
Evidence of current enrollment in an APN program
A brief description of how the candidate plans to use the money
One full page paper exploring the candidate's view of what it means to be an Advanced Practice Nurse
A list of professional organizations to which the candidate belongs
A cumulative grade point average of not less than 3.0
The scholarship is currently $1,000.00 and is to be presented to single winning applicant at the October 19th meeting with a certificate designed by Anne's husband, Dr. Lawrence Chien. AANP Tennessee State Representative Report
Irma Gordon from UT Knoxville is our State of Tennessee Representative.These are the pearls she reported to the attendees at the National Conference held in Phoenix last week.
1)NPs can care for someone throughout the life span but still cannot sign their death certificate.
2)Defeated TMAs attempt to require MD attendance at clinic during Tx for Pain related Sx
3)NPs remain under the Board of Nursing and all specialties are considered in the verbiage that mentions FNPs
4)Attorney General is supportive of NPs and supports the BON duty overseeing this profession
5)No restriction on the title “doctor”
6)She serves on the TNA’s Advance Practice Council

Prompt membership renewal is important
Prompt renewal of your CANAP membership allows us to continue sending you meeting info and newsletters by email without disruption. Your canap.org website account may be disabled but do not try to register a new website account. When your membership renewal is complete we will re-enable your existing website account. It is best to build an accurate membership list early in the year.
How To Become A Member (or Renew membership)
Membership in CANAP is on an annual basis from January 1 to December 31 and requires that you submit our official electronic application form and pay annual dues (renewing members deadline is January 31; to prevent being dropped from membership please make the deadline).
Membership Dues:
$50.00/year - Advance Practice Nurses and other healthcare professionals
$25.00/year - Students and Retirees
